About LoveBerkeley

Acting as a welcome wagon and referral maven rolled into one, I created LoveBerkeley for newcomers, visitors, and residents interested in exploring Berkeley’s offerings.

As a teen I would take the 51 College Avenue bus from Piedmont to see what my babysitting money could buy from Telegraph Avenue street vendors, including colorful trade beads from Africa and provocative bumper stickers.  After high school, I attended UC Berkeley and got to know the local parks, music venues and cheap eats perfect for my college student budget.  Several years later, after living in San Francisco, I settled into my North Berkeley bungalow which I have called home since 1990. I love to visit new stores and restaurants and share my discoveries with others.

As a self-proclaimed “culture vulture,” I am well acquainted with the arts and cultural offerings in and around Berkeley.  I have worked for Cal Performances at UC Berkeley and the Berkeley Symphony, and have volunteered at the Freight and Salvage Coffee House, Aurora Theater and The Marsh.

I enjoy researching fun things to do in and around Berkeley and frequently invite friends to explore new and familiar activities such as going sailing, seeing a thought provoking play, enjoying live music at a house concert, or checking out an exhibit at a nearby museum.

I would love to help you or someone you know to better understand this vibrant community with the hopes you’ll love Berkeley, too!

Warmly,
Carol Suveda
